Born in Venezuela. She received her Bachelor's degree in Arts from the Central University of Venezuela in 2006. She has worked as a first assistant director in the Venezuelan and Colombian feature films: “Bloques” by Carlos Caridad Montero, “Cheila: Una Casa pa´Maita” and “Bambi C4” by Eduardo Barberena, “Cuidado con lo que sueñas” by Geyka Urdaneta, “El Circo Fantasía (3D)” by Raúl García and also the documentary feature “El Santo Salvaje” by John Petrizzelli.

 

Graduated in Direction from the International School of Film and TV in Cuba in 2014. While studying she directed various short films, both documentary and fiction. 

 

Joacenith was awarded a research scholarship to Concordia University in Montreal to investigate working with Non-Actors in Canada.

 

Her last short film, Estela, has been selected in over 12 international film festivals, such as Palm Springs International ShortFest, Rio de Janeiro Film Festival, Kinoforum in Sao Paulo, Poitiers in France. It was awarded for Best Short Film and Best Direction at the Imago Film Festival in Cuba and for Best Scene in FRAPA in Porto Alegre - Brasil.
